Shinigami

This Is Who I Am

Name: Luna Katsu
Age: 205, appears to be around 20
Gender: Female
Rank: 1st Division Captain.

This Is What You See

Height: 5'5''
Weight: 1250 lbs
Appearance:
Spoiler:
She has long blonde hair that is smooth to the touch. Her bangs are wild and messy, falling over her eyes almost constantly. Her eyes are a deep, unnatural red. Why this is, is unknown.

A good word to describe her is Average. Average hair, body proportions. Average looks. Despite her average appearance, there is one thing that sticks out: her eyes. Her eyes are a deep, blood red color and seem to be void of most emotion, which suits her careless personality.

She'll usually be seen wearing the uniform of Shinigami, but when she is training, or not really doing anything as a Soul Reaper, she likes to wear her own clothing. She wears a black jacket that is closely fitting to her body, which is never zipped up. She keeps her hands shoved deep inside the depths of the coat pockets at all times, unless she's using her Zanpakuto. Under her jacket she wears a simple white T-shirt. And to top it off, she wears black, tightly fitting jeans. Even though the jeans are tight on her, it doesn't seem to limit her mobility in any way. So, despite the fact that she's wearing her own outfit, she still keeps the Black and White theme that the Shinigami have.

However, to show off her more casual side, when she's "off duty" she almost always have headphones in her ears, blasting her music into her eardrums. However, she keeps her music down so that she can hear, just in case of emergency. But... If she's playing a song she loves, she usually turns up the volume and starts to sing softly to herself. Though she sings quietly, she has a beautiful voice, which leads to people asking her why she's so ashamed of her voice.

This Is My Good Side

Positive Traits:
  • "You Respect Me, I'll Respect You." She is HUGE on respect. Meaning she is very respectful towards anyone of a higher rank than her, and demands respect from anybody at a lower rank.
  • "I'm On It." Though she's a terrible listener when it comes to other's problems, she is very obedient when it comes to orders and Missions. She'll be sure to make sure she does everything she is told, and do it right.
  • "Check Mate." Despite being a blonde, she doesn't fall under the "stupid Blonde" category. She's actually very smart and she's really good about planning ahead and being one step ahead of everyone
  • "You're Doing It Wrong. Let Me Show You." She may be stubborn, prideful, and cocky but she's a great teacher. She actually enjoys going out of her way to help inexperienced people get better. Now, this doesn't mean she actually cares about the person. She just doesn't want a bunch of experienced rookies running around causing trouble.
  • "Anything I Can Do?" Luna can't stand just sitting around like an idiot. So, she's constantly offering to help on Missions, help train someone, or really do just about anything productive.

This Is My Bad Side

Negative Traits:
  • "Bring It ON!" Luna has the terrible habit of picking a fight with anything that moves. She constantly wants to better herself, and the only way she knows how is to fight.
  • "Like I Care." Saying she's a caring person would be a massive lie. Though she would die protecting someone she really "likes" she really couldn't care less about anyone else.
  • "Heh. Like You Can Even Compare To Me." She's very Prideful. Meaning, she thinks she's the best at everything she does. This also plays into her cocky nature and self-absorbedness.
  • "No, You're Wrong." The only thing that could match her pridefulness is her stubbornness. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is really dependent on the situation, but more often than not it gets her into trouble (hence why I'm putting this in the Negative section)
  • "Huh?" Do not come to her with and spill out your life story. It'll just go in one ear and out the other. She really couldn't care less about your problems, which means she is a TERRIBLE listener.

This Is What I Can Do

Zanpakuto Appearance:
Spoiler:

A simple Katana with a diamond pattern on the grip of the sword.

Zanpakuto Spirit:
Spoiler:

Kurai (Left) and Hikari (Right).
These twins are Koko's Zanpakuto Spirits. Though they are different spirits, most of the time they act as if they are one spirit. They finish each other sentences and seem to be glued to each other. Which you would think would be odd considering their personalities are completely different

Kurai serves as the Negative side of the twins. This is because she is more down to Earth and sees things for what they really are. If she knows a fight is going bad, she becomes hesitant and does her best to encourage Koko to take it easy and run if needed (though Koko would never run from a fight). She is also the more laid back of the two.

Hikari is the opposite of Kurai. She is positive, determined, and outgoing. She can be very headstrong and loves to go all out when a battle looks like it's going downhill. She pushes Luna to keep going and to never give up on anything.
Skill Type: Illusions

Basic Abilities: Ambidextrous: Her hand-eye coordination increases significantly and allows her to wield two blades just as easily as wielding one blade.

As Koko moves, it looks as if there's a trail behind her. It would make her opponent feel as if they had double vision, which usually causes slight nausea, headaches, and confusion. However, how clear her "trail" is, is all dependent on how much of a spiritual energy difference there is between her and her opponent. (I.E. if she has a higher Spiritual Energy, her trail would be clearly visible, whereas if opponent had a higher spiritual energy, they would hardly see it.)

But, other than that, her Shikai and Shikai ability isn't very unique. This is because she relies on her advanced ability to wield her Zanpakuto rather than always falling back on Techniques and gaudy powers. She believes with all of her heart, that her blades could defeat even a Bankai (though we all know that probably isn't true)

Basic Stats:
Strength- 30
Defense- 10
Speed- 20
Stamina- 20
SP (Spiritual Power) - 10
SR (Spiritual Resistance) - 10

This Is What I Have Done

The Start of it All
Luna was born into a middle class, hard working family. Her family made a decent income, but at a price. Both of her parents worked long shifts and when they did finally come home, they were too beat to pay their only child much attention. The little, eight year old girl did everything she could to please her parents, but no matter how hard she worked, no matter how good of a job she did, it was always "Half-assed." Her father refused to praise her in any way and her mother was just too timid to stand against him. This rejection would play a major role in Koko's life.

At the age of 16, Luna basically lived in a forest just outside of her hometown. Sure, she would have to come home at some point in time, but she was out in the forest for as long as possible. She claimed to "feel more at home" there than she did when she was at home. However, there was one draw back to the forest. It was also the local hunting area. Luna knew better than to go running off deep into the forest, so she never had much troubles with the local hunters. Until the day she turned 19.

Luna was sitting on a tree branch, singing quietly to herself one warm, summer afternoon. Her eyes were closed and a smile was plastered on her face. It was as if she didn't have a care in the world. But, the sound of a tree branch snapping tossed her out of her calm mood. Her eyes snapped open and she turned to search for the source of the sound. Everything seemed to be normal. There was no movement not even a falling leaf-

A scream pushed its way out of Koko's mouth as a blur of grey fur darted across the corner of her vision. Her muscles tensed and her body screamed to run. However, the only movement she made was falling from her branch and landing on the ground with a loud, dull THUD. She rubbed her head as she groaned, her eyes slowly moving up to see what had startled her. A cheerful looking squirrel grinned down at her and made a chattering sound before scampering up the trunk of the tree. Luna growled and mumbled a few curse words before pulling herself to her feet and dusting off her shirt. She straightened out her jacket then trudged deeper into the forest, careful to keep her eyes out for hunters.

Yawning, Luna leaned against an old oak tree. The branches on the tree curved down towards her, as if the tree was doing everything in its power to protect her. The golden and red leafs formed a thin roof above her head as she gazed out into the forest. All was peaceful and calm. It was the perfect do-nothing day.

Luna's eyes widened as time seemed to slow down. A bullet came from out of nowhere and embedded itself into the truck of the oak tree only inches away from the left side of her head. Her voice caught in her throat as gripped her body. Who would directly shoot at her? Did she Look like a deer. She blinked a few times then called out into the forest. "Hey! I'm not a deer!" As she waved her arms to show that she was a Human. another gunshot came from the distance, only this time it didn't miss. The bullet slammed into her shoulder. The pain was indescribable. Intense, burning, crippling pain in her arm caused her to fall to the ground. Shaky fingers moved to hold the wound as Koko cried out in pain. What was going on? Who was shooting at her? She forced herself to look up to see two men standing atop a hill overlooking the forest. One man was on the ground, holding his chest, while another man stood over him, a gun pointed at the other man's head.

"Please.. No! Don't do it! It wasn't m-" the begging man didn't get to finish. The man fired his gun, sending a bullet straight through the mans head. Time came to a stop as Koko saw the dead man's face. The tense features, the long black hair, deep blue eyes. It was her father. Adrenalin shoved Luna to her feet and sent her running towards the killer. She tackled the man to the ground, her fingers wrapping around the barrel of the gun as she shouted at the man: "I'll kill you! I'll kill you!"

The man, who was obviously taken off guard by Luna's sudden attack, struggle to regain control over his gun and shoved it up and pulled the trigger, obviously hoping to shoot Luna. A bullet went directly through her gut. Her eyes widened as blood began to drip from her mouth. Her body felt heavy as time seemed to come to a stand still. Actually, she didn't really feel much pain. She was so far beyond her sensory limits that all she felt was an incurable numbness throughout her body.

A smirk crossed the man's face as he shoved Koko aside. But she wasn't done with him yet. With her hands still on the gun, she yanked it from his arms and moved to pull the trigger. The force of the rifle knocked her onto her back and sent her into a sea of blackness. She died.

Welcome To Rukongai
Luna woke a few days later. However, she wasn't atop the hill where she last was. She found herself sitting under the large oak tree. She looked up, expecting to see the roof of golden and red leafs, but all she saw were the skeleton-like arms and fingers of the tree branches above her. Actually, all of the trees were void of all leafs. Apparently, all the leafs already died and had fallen to the ground. That couldn't be. The leafs were hardly falling last Luna remembered. Luna knit her eyebrows as she tried to recall what exactly had happened. She remembered coming out here like always. And seeing her fatehr on top of the hill. And the pain... She was shot! She instantly ran her fingers over her gut, but there was no wound. No blood. No nothing. Well, except for a black chain that seemed to be connected to her chest. She reached out to lift the chain and followed it. The chain seemed to be connected to the oak tree.

Standing up, Luna gripped the chain and gave it a light tug. A small wave of pain stung at her chest. She winced the dropped the chain. What was going on? She cupped her hands around her mouth and cried out: "Help! Someone! I.. Something's wrong!" She didn't know what exactly to say. She didn't even know what had happened. She was supposed to be dead! She got shot... Twice. And what about her father? And that guy? Did she kill him? What happened. She grabbed her head as she struggled to make sense of what had happened.

"Yeah. You're dead," a voice called out in front of her. Luna blinked open her eyes to see a man standing in front of her. The man wore a black outfit and seemed to have a sword strapped to his white belt. His arms were crossed over his chest and his dark blue hair covered most of his bright green eyes. "You ready to go to Rukongai?"

"Ruko-huh?" Luna blinked as she took a step back. "Who are you? And what do you mean 'I'm dead'? What's going on?" She asked in a panicked voice. But, after fifteen minutes of explaining that she had, in fact, died and that Rukongai was a place were dead souls go, Koko seemed to calm a bit. "So... You're here to take me to this Rukongai place, huh?" She asked quietly. When he nodded, Koko nodded as well. that was the most agreement this Soul Reaper was going to get out of her. So, with that said, the man lead her to her new home.

She ended up in a moderate town. The people, erm, souls, tended to shy away from each other, and not much really happened. That didn't stop Koko from becoming the Trouble Maker, though. Once she had reached this new place, she already had it set in her mind that she had to get stronger. Even though she was dead, she didn't ever want to feel helpless like she did when her father died. She found a choice stick, and carved it into the rough image of a sword. She would run around town, taunting people and poking fights with whoever she figured would be a challenge. Even though she wasn't really using a sword, she was slowly getting the feeling of fighting with one. However, she didn't become a master swordsman over night. More often than note, she ended up picking a fight with someone too strong and ended up getting her ass handed to her.

She found herself thinking more and more, can someone who's already dead die? She didn't want to take the chance. Years of starting fights, physical training, and mental training later Luna found herself to be pretty skilled using her make-shift wooden sword. However, she soon began to feel empty wield this mock sword. She longed to be a Shinigami. To fight for something, other than the fact to just get stronger.

She was sitting on the roof of a random house, her wooden sword in her lap and her eyes closed. She had heard of Shinigami communicating with their Zanpakuto, and even though Luna knew very she couldn't talk to this piece of wood, she was practicing clearing her mind. She let her body relax, her mind go blank. Her mind was at total peace. Well, until the shouting of someone below caught her attention. She growled as she opened one eye to look down at the street. Standing there with his Zanpakuto drawn was the same Shinigami who had led Koko to her new home. She blinked a few times then jumped down to face him. "What are you doing here?"

"Isn't it obvious?" The Shinigami smirked. "I'm here to see how good you are right now," he pointed the tip of his blade at her. "You see, I've been watching you, Luna, and I think you have what it takes to be a Shinigami. But, we have to make sure I'm not mistaken, got it?"

Luna was never one to pass up a fight, but with this fight determining if she "had what it takes", Luna was itching to start. With a smirk, she held out her wooden sword. She didn't care if her piece of wood was no match for the elegant Zanpakuto before her, she wanted to fight. She lunged forward and slammed her sword down at the Shinigami. He easily brought up his sword and deflected it, sending her stumbling back. She laughed under her breath then charged him again, only this time he leaned to the side, letting the wood fly by his head. Luna saw the muscles in her left arm tensed. She knew he was going to strike her, but her reactions were too slow. She watched as his blade flew towards her ribs. Was he really going to slash her open like a pig? That would be fatal wound! Even if she couldn't die, that would be exceedingly painful.

She closed her eyes and managed to shout out "STOP!" She kept her eyes slammed shut, bracing for the stinging pain that was soon to come. But nothing happened. She slowly opened her eyes to see the Shinigami looking down at her with a shocked expression.

It seemed like an eternity before the Shinigami relaxed his sword and started to walk down the street. "Come," he mumbled. Luna was a little taken back, but she quickly followed after him.

The Academy
Though it was set up like a college, Luna fell in love with the Academy. Yes, there were boring classes and the people there were usually too stuck up to give Koko a second glance, but she was in heaven. Training nonstop. Battling each other in a constant competition to see who was stronger. She excelled in Zanjutsu. Even using a fake sword that could hardly cut through anything, Luna wielded it was deadly accuracy and made sure that every shot she made would have been a fatal would. Kido was her next best class. Apparently, she had great Spiritual Energy, which allowed her to use her techniques easily. However, she preferred not to use them unless it was absolutely necessary. At times that was a great fall back. But, she worked around her flaws. Her Hakuda skills were just above par. Most people said that was odd, considering her amazing hand-eye coordination, but Koko didn't really have much of an explanation. "Fighting with your hands is way different than wielding a blade" was her usual come back to their comments.

Among the Strongest of the Strong (Soul Society)
Luna graduated easily and was given her own Zanpakuto and assigned to a squad. For the longest time she simply sat on the ground, admiring the beautiful blade that lay in her lap. The blade reflected her own image back at her, and yet, Luna knew that this blade was a spirit all in its own. She just had to prove herself to the blade. Then she would learn its name, visit it's world, and even learn to use Bankai. She knew that would take years, but time flies when you're doing something you love.

She would spend countless hours learning to handle her Zanpakuto and getting the feel of how it liked to fight. But, she found herself practicing Jinzen. She would sit on the ground with her blade in her lap and close her eyes. She would clear her mind and hope that her blade would say something to her. But for years her blade seemed to be nothing but a simple piece of steel. Just when she was about to give up on her blade, she heard a faint whisper in the back of her mind. The voice was quiet, and seemed to be two voices at once, but it was clear as day to Koko. "Wanna see me..?" The voice sung. Luna nodded once then closed her eyes and cleared her mind.

When she opened her eyes she found herself standing on a thick tree branch. She blinked a few times then looked around. She couldn't believe she was in her Inner World. But... Where was her Zanpakuto spirit?

"Turn around," the same voice called from behind. Luna turned to see two girls standing beside each other. The twins had long white hair and wore simple black dresses. The one on the right smiled and said "My name is Hikari," she then looked at her twin.
The twin frowned and sighed as she said "And I am Kurai. We are your..."
"Zanpakuto spirit!" Hikari giggled. "However..."
"If you must address us during battle, you need to call us..."
"Shadouraito."

Luna blinked as she stared at them. It made sense having a single name for them, rather than calling out both of their names. But it was odd. Most Shinigami called their sword by the name of their spirit. But, then again, most didn't have two spirits. Still, she wasn't going to argue with them. She nodded and bowed. "Thank you for showing yourselves to me Hikari and Kurai. Please... Teach me how to be stronger... Lend me your strength in battle so that I can protect us."

Hikari and Kuri exchanged glances, looked Luna over, and then nodded in unison. "Very well, Luna," Kurai spoke. And with that said, Luna woke up back in the Soul Society, Shadouraito in her lap. A wide grin spread across her face as she jumped up, holding Shadouraito over he head and laughing loudly.
*****
RP Sample: Luna's eyes stayed focused on the massive beast before her. The ten foot tall monster with an apatite roared as it took a step towards her. It's massive legs were the size of tree trunks and shaped like that of a wolfs, however the head of the monster was solid white and shaped like that of a human. The Hollow was middle ranked one, meaning it wasn't something Luna could taunt and mess with. She needed to get this over with before anymore innocent souls were taken.

"Scream, Shadouraito," she mumbled as she held her Zanpakuto in front of her face, her eyes closed. She could feel her Spiritual Pressure being released, she could see the blinding light that was surrounding her through her eyelids. Shadouraito shifted in her hands, shrinking down and becoming more compact. She also felt her second blade form in her left hand. Her blood red eyes snapped open as a smirk spread across her face. "Ready, Hikari?" She looked at her right hand blade. She could sense the agreement from her sword. "What about you, Kurai?" Though her left handed sword was a little more hesitant, she knew that she was ready to fight. "Then lets so this!" She smirked as she leaped forward, directly for the Hollow's face.

The monster roared and lifted its paw to bat Koko away. Koko stopped mid jump, standing on the air, and then sprinted to the side. Using her Flash Step to dodge was like second nature to her, even though she normally wouldn't stop an attack like she just had. "C'mon you reject of life!" She taunted the beast as she smirked. The Hollow roared then started to run towards her. Koko smirked then slid her foot back, bracing herself. She held Hikari up and pointed towards the charging beast, while she held Kurai across her stomach in a defensive manner. The beast quickly closed the gap between them and then brought its paw down at Koko. "Too slow," she mumbled before jumping up and driving Hikari into the Hollow's forehead. She drug the blade down and across the Hollow's face, splitting its head in two halves.

She landed on the ground quietly as the beast dissipated into nothing. She closed her eyes and calmed her mind as she held up her dual blades in front of her face. "Thank you, you guys," she put the blades together. And just like that, the dual blades merged into one single blade and she returned to her normal form. With a small smile, she sheathed Shadouraito and started to head back to the Soul Society.
